Overview

Standard 12.10 of American Educational Research Association, American Psychological Association, and National Council on Measurement in Education’s Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (2014) states, “In educational settings, a decision or characterization that will have major impact on a student should take into consideration not just scores from a single test but other relevant information.” Within that context, CAASPP test results should be interpreted as a student’s achievement on a single assessment. They are meant to represent approximations of students’ mastery of content areas.

Any comparison of groups should not be used for diagnostic, placement, promotion, or retention purposes.
