SSRs

The SSR is the official score report for parents/guardians. An SSR describes the student’s results and is made available to all students and parents/guardians. Per 5 CCR Section 863. CAASPP SSRs must be made available to parents within 20 working days of the LEA’s receiving the SSR in TOMS. If the LEA receives the SSRs after the last day of instruction for the school year, the LEA shall make the SSR available to the parent or guardian no later than the first 20 working days of the next school year.

An LEA CAASPP coordinator at the student’s current or last enrolled LEA can download a student’s SSR for the current and previous test administrations through TOMS. If the LEA has established SIS credentialing, parents and guardians can also access SSRs through their SIS parent portal.

LEAs have four options for accessing and distributing SSRs to parents/guardians; these are described in more detail in the section Options for Distributing SSRs.

  1. Accessing electronic SSR PDFs using a locally provided parent/guardian or student portal
  2. Downloading SSR PDFs from TOMS and making them available electronically using a secure local method
  3. Downloading SSR PDFs from TOMS, printing them, and making them available locally
  4. Purchasing paper SSRs from ETS and distributing to parents/guardians using a locally determined distribution method

The following SSRs for the CAASPP are available as downloadable PDFs or electronically through a parent or student portal:

  • SSR for Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for ELA and mathematics—Grades three through eight and grade eleven
  • SSR for CAST—Grades five and eight and high school (i.e., in grade ten, eleven, or twelve)
  • SSR for CAAs for ELA and mathematics—Grades three through eight and grade eleven
  • SSR for CAA for Science—Grades five and eight, and high school (i.e., in grade ten, eleven, or twelve)
  • SSR for CSA—Grades three through eight and high school (all students may optionally test)
  • Lexile and Quantile Measures report—Grades three through eight and grade eleven (Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments only)

The CAASPP SSRs include the following information for content areas:

  • A scale score and performance or achievement level
  • Explanations of the scores
  • Score history (Smarter Balanced and CAAs for ELA and mathematics; and CSA only)
  • Domain performance level results (CAST only)
  • Additional parent/guardian resources

Scale score ranges for each reporting level are identified. For all assessments, with the exception of the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments, these ranges incorporate the level threshold scores approved by the SBE. Threshold ranges for the Smarter Balanced content areas were determined during a Smarter Balanced standard setting.

Refer to the SSRs Descriptions section for details about all CAASPP SSRs.
